Summertime Sadness?

Lana just needed balloons.

August 7, 2025

We love Lana but we’re firm about summertime being for sunshine and smiles. And maybe Sunshine Balloon Foils with smiles…? Keep scrolling to read about why we’re smiling this August, including some exciting staff updates, Back to School offerings, and community shoutouts!

HI MARYAM! BYE ABBIE!

Thanks to support from Venture for Canada, we’re delighted to welcome Maryam - BBYQR’s Digital Marketing Intern - to the team this September!

We met Maryam on a short-term project with VFC, and it was love at first blog post! A double major in business and psychology, Maryam is a community-minded, grammar-conscious, digital marketing wiz! Welcome Maryam!

We’re also sending off one of our star players! It’s a bittersweet “see you later” to Abbie, one of our Production Team members.

Abbie’s keen eye, stellar sense of style, and heart of gold will be truly missed! As she heads off to study film in BC, she’ll always be part of the BBYQR family (in fact you may even see her at a holiday install or two… We hope!)

BACK TO SCHOOL

(But make it fun.)

As cabin season comes to a close, give the little ones (and the fully grown adults) something special to look forward to this September! A BBYQR Photoshoot or a Back to School Balloon Stick, perhaps?

JULY HIGHLIGHTS

The Gateway Festival

When: July 25-27 2025

Where: Bengough, SK

We could share a pic of our balloon display at the Gateway Festival…OR we could share this pic of BBYQR’s heiress (Tanna’s niece) taking it all in. We’re choosing the latter, but the vibes of Gateway’s 2-day, 2-stage music festival were just as high as Ruthie’s eyebrows!

UPCOMING EVENTS

Friendraiser 2025 - Illuminating Impact

When: August 14, 2025

Where: Conexus Arts Centre, Regina

Now in its third year, the South Saskatchewan Community Foundation’s Friendraiser is the ultimate charity event of the year! Bringing together over 100 charities -alongside donors, board members, and community members - from across the province, this event is dedicated to addressing Saskatchewan’s current needs with actionable solutions. But alongside the serious stuff, there’s food, entertainment, and killer event décor!

The balloon & floral archway display at SSCF’s 2024 Friendraiser is still one of our favourites of all time! It’s such a treat to work with such a coordinated team to pull off an event of this size. Check out our blog about last year’s event below:

COMMUNITY FIRST, ALWAYS

The Queen City Marathon (QCM) turns 25! September 5-7, 2025

The QCM is going on 25 years strong (literally, have you seen the calf muscles there?) This event has been a staple in our community for over 2 and a half decades, bringing together runners, volunteers, and spectators in the Queen City! Consider getting involved this year for some fast-paced fun. Or, be like us and cheer the runners on at the finish line with balloons and beer (thanks to their Bushwakker partnership)
